My folks would take my sister and I there every summer, from 1955- 1959. I loved the boardwalk! One year, I think it was 1957, so I was 12, we saw the "Miss California" beauty pageant ! <3 I've been there since 2012 and I've loved it ever since. a lot has changed, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. The Giant Dipper will always be my favorite ride because every time you go in it the wood shifts a little bit, and it really gives the sense of fear, like "Will it fall? Is it going to fall right out from under me?" and it just flings you around, up and down, left and right, and it's a very relatable experience nowadays. For instance, my 107 year old great grandma who I saw not too long ago, told me about her experience on the dipper. All the other rides are good, but not as good as the Dipper.

I grew up going to Santa Cruz, it was fun then, my favorite was the tennis ball bazooka stand and the fun house .. water was always cold there. Went back 5 years ago and there were homeless people hanging around, gang looking guys lurking about, got a real unsafe vibe. I said F it, and got back in my car and left. The city has let the boardwalk turn into a shit hole and I won’t be going back...

This would never fly in 2023. It is hilarious and cringe wirth at the same time.

Just went to santa cruz last weekend, it's been one of my favorite towns for as long as I can remember, the boardwalk is host to some of my most precious memories

I had that Coconut Grove sign ,l didn't know what to do with it,l tried to sell it but no one was interested, l crushed it and sold it for scrap.l lived just across the river and in the summer would go to sleep to the sound of the giant dippers wheels and screams

Loved Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and San Francisco's Playland at the Beach. I remember going down to Santa Cruz in the early 1960's. There use to be a good Mexican restaurant on the main street right up from the merry go round building. My parents would take us there for enchiladas and tacos. Great memories of Santa Cruz and SF'S Playland

I lived so close to the Boardwalk, 4 blocks away, 5 houses down from West Cliff Drive. I rode the Big Dipper over a hundred times, learned to swim in the Plunge, and knew all the rides from one end to the other! I will remember that good time forever.

I have been looking for episode three with Olivia Newton- John singing Have You Ever Been Mellow?. I would pay for a copy, or if you would put it on UA-cam .

They used the word "falsies" probably for the first and only time in cinematic history!!! "...falsies..."--The great Suellyn Lyon.
